Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge

The place is calm and peaceful. By night and mornings you can only hear the birds. The beautiful environment, services and nature are all there to make you feel better and more relaxed. There are so many activities such as boating, swimming, hiking, horse riding and biking. This is a place to be visited once you visit Tanzania.

We stayed here at the beginning and end of our Tanzania safari with Natural Habitat Adventures. Staff were welcoming, the lodge and grounds and trails are beautiful, the monkeys great fun and the rooms very comfortable and attractive. The food was excellent and the head of staff, Sharifa, did a terrific job of making our group comfortable and attending to whatever we needed.

A natural and a cool place ..I will advice enyone who wants to visit Arusha should also visit this place....Here in there are some cool activities like horse riding and boat ringing. Couple also should visit and have a good time and memories together. I never get tired visiting here.

I have actually stayed here several times now, but this is the first review that I have done on this lodge. This lodge is a perfect place to start and end any vacation to Tanzania. I stay here before and after my safaris to Tanzania! It is the perfect place to relax after a long flight and rest up before heading out on game drive. The setting is so peaceful and relaxing and there is so much to see just on the property itself. So many relaxing paths to explore and quite little spots to just sit and enjoy the sights and sounds. With so many birds to see and hear while staying here, it is a great starting place for a safari. They also have monkeys that visit the grounds regularly. One of my favorite thins to do while here is to just lay in bed early in the morning and just listen to the 'morning chorus' as the birds and monkeys start waking up and calling, such a peaceful sounds first thing in the morning. The staff is wonderful and so friendly and helpful and the food is amazing. I love all of their food, but they have some of the best soups around, with watercress & tomato being two of my favorites there. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable with everything you could ask for and you have plenty of hot water in your rooms. There are so many little hideaways that they can set up your meals at that really make you feel so special while there. This lodge is truly a hidden gem that I look forward to staying at each time that I come. You will not be disappointed staying here.

This hotel was a little gem hidden away in the mountains near Arusha. The food was superb and mostly fresh straight from the gardens and onsite fish farm. Staff service and friendliness was excellent and this eco friendly hotel was a welcome and tranquil retreat after a long journey and before our safari. The hotel positives ie eco friendly and tranquility meant that there were some restrictions to modern living which some people might find a problem ie limited wifi ( none in rooms only at reception) and water/electricity quirks for example having to run the shower for a while and not being able to use a hairdryer. These were not a problem for us particularly for a short stay and were more than compensated by the overall positive experience. Do your research before you go and maybe the hotel could do a bit more to explain this in advance. Overall excellent - thank you for a wonderful stay.

This lodge was originally built at the turn of the century. However since 1973 it has been owned and operated by a special family that has preserved and cultivated its unique history. The accommodation, the food, horseback riding, massages and wildlife at your door are worth the trip. But it is the unrivaled staff that made my experience most memorable. I will treasure the individuals that took the care and interest in my experience forever. I have never before experienced this type of loyalty and commitment in a staff. Bravo to the Leach family for fostering an environment to surpass all others.

We reserved a two-night stay at Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge for February 11th and 12th, 2024. Upon arrival, chosen after some research, I was greeted with a disappointing welcome unlike any I had previously encountered. The receptionist lacked warmth and failed to offer any welcoming gestures or explanations, simply directing me to fill out a form with an indifferent attitude. Upon settling into my room with the intention of relaxing and contacting my family, I discovered there was no WiFi available, adding a comedic twist to the situation. Upon contacting reception for assistance, I was initially informed that a technician had resolved the issue, only to later discover, upon contacting again after 7:30, that no technician was available due to it being Sunday. Throughout my stay, WiFi remained unavailable. The property's management was notably poor, evidenced by the outdated and malfunctioning shower fixtures. I encountered issues such as the absence of a bidet shower in the bathroom and inadequate maintenance of the shower facilities. The shower provided only two extremes of water temperature: extremely cold or scalding hot, with no option for a moderate temperature, resulting in a less-than-ideal showering experience. Additionally, the absence of a hair dryer was notable. Despite these drawbacks, there were some positive aspects to highlight. The property itself was impressive and enjoyable, with efficient and high-quality laundry service, satisfactory food offerings, and exceptional massage services, which provided the best massage I've experienced in Tanzania. Activities such as horse riding, boat riding, and walking were thoroughly enjoyable and provided memorable experiences. While I may not opt to stay at Ngare Sero again, I might consider visiting or recommending it for a short tour lasting a few hours.

Brilliant lodge in a beautiful setting - excellent food, very comfortable rooms and amazing staff I stayed here twice - once before a climb to the top of Kilimanjaro and then after i had descended and was joined by my family The Lodge offers everything that you might want and more - delicious food every night with amazing soups and a brilliant breakfast spread with multiple choices (try the hash browns and avocado) - quick and efficient laundry service - great massage - amazing wildlife incl Colobus Monkeys, Fish Eagles and Giant Kingfishers - lovely gardens and surrounding forest - interesting history - brilliant packed lunches for day trips The gardens rooms were spacious and incredibly comfortable whilst the Kilimanjaro Suite was like a palace for the family Not forgetting Lengai the adorable Staffordshire Bull Terrier - possibly not the most efficient security dog but a wonderful character!!

Amazing place! Everything is eco friendly and the food is even grown in their garden. The meals were outstanding and so were the grounds and accommodations. While there we enjoyed a guided walk, a swim in the pool and a boat ride in the lagoon. They also have a spa! Truly lovely place very glad this was our first stop on our safari as we relaxed here before 6 days of a lot of travels en movements. There are eagles and monkeys around especially the colobus monkeys which are super rare and stunning!
