For 32 years I visit Arosa for skiing in the winter and a few visits during summer. This was our fourth visit to the Arosa Kulm hotel and again we were very much welcomed. Our first Christmas visit in Kulm was in 2018 of course some things have changed in a good ways, but we also see some things disappearing. We always feel very welcomed in the hotel by the staff and Hotel manager. The chefs deliver excellent food service in all restaurants. A big thanks to the chefs, managers and staff from the Taverne, Ahaan Thai. Muntanella with his excellent chef who loves to prepare food with fantastic local products, thanks for the nice conversation. By the word “gala” diner on Christmas eve and Christmas day I personally expect a different experience. These evenings are always a kind of chaos for me then a rather nice dining experience. Guests are asked to get in the restaurant at 7:00pm for the gala but show up in all different times this results a lot of walk inns like a normal evening! Not “gala” as I have experienced in many other hotels. Staff is doing outmost their best. I was more impressed with my normal evening Muntanella then the two “gala’s”! The communication sometimes is unclear. Guest Apero on the 23th of dec would take place in the panorama lounge but moved to kulm lounge. On the 25th the Apero would be served at the table as mentioned in the Christmas program. We asked the waiter and sommelier at the table about the Apero and they told us this was replaced by a guest gathering in the panorama lounge at 6:30 where the Apero was served. We were not aware and no communication, pity we wanted to say goodbye to some guest, we were very disappointed. The Bar tenders in the lounge were friendly, attentive and quick service, always open for a nice chat, a smile and laugh. The spa is beautiful, we like kids and don’t have problems with them. We wanted to swim around noon but there were about 7 kids splashing in the pool, while the mums were busy with their phones and making insta pics. We thought the kids hours for splashing was clear communicated. The two concierges who both work for many years at Kulm are so experienced, a big thanks for helping us with the car issues. Also a thanks for the guys collecting the luggage. Front office, a disappointment about our booking, we wanted to stay a night longer but during booking no rooms available, during the online check-in we noticed rooms were available for extra night? no interaction on our mail. Instead we received an upgrade but we would had preferred a longer stay in the original booked (south side) room. On the Question would I recommend the hotel! Yes certainly for families with kids, everything can and is possible for families. The hotel is focused on families and what I would say “instagram influencers” who are visible on their social media, but a pity they don’t follow their regular guest who are the majority of visitors. Thanks for a wonderful stay Good luck for the future Jan & Wil
