Lauriston Hotel

Hotel is very easy to find ,located around 2 minutes from the Ardrossan South beach station . Additionally it is around a 15 minute walk to the Ardrossan Ferry terminal for the Arran boat . It was a very nice touch that the hotel had appropriate Halloween themed lighting upon arrival outside and inside for Halloween weekend . Upon check in the front desk were very welcoming and took the time to explain where everything was and take our order for breakfast . As our ferry was cancelled the next day , the staff at the hotel were very helpful and let us keep our bags in our room as the weather was atrocious and offered to let us stay in the bar/lounge area as long as we needed. Excellent service . Hotel room and all other areas were perfectly clean and in good condition . The room had a kettle and the bar was open until late . The breakfast in the morning was also fantastic . Overall a great stay before going over to Arran and would stay again.

I was booked into this place for a one night stay. The first red flag was the plants growing out of the building visible from the car park, next, the room was grim, extension cables, very old carpet, just nasty, I sat on the bed, I had my 60th birthday a few days ago, I’m sure the mattress was older than me, no pillow protectors, all in all, really run down rooms. The last straw was a beer at the bar, my lips are still tingling, flat horrible and an underlying line cleaner flavour. I didn’t stay long enough to try the food. Don’t go.

We have had the great fortune of visiting the Lauriston Hotel in Ardrossan for many years now. And its nothing less than a wee jewel on the West Coast. We were welcomed back by the staff who recognised us from our many previous visits. Our table was situated at the window offering us great views, and a feel of the great ambiance in the restaurant. My family had the fish and chips, cheeseburger and Thai curry, and I can honestly say it was all beautifully presented, and delicious and didn’t disappoint, The Lauriston food/service/ambiance, is a credit to all who work there, thank you, once again for a further great evening…..we will be back, again :)

Check in was a bit hap hazard and the room was not as expected. Shower room was cramped to say the least and the double bed was not comfortable. Breakfast wasn’t exactly welcoming and I feel the items were either reheated or waiting on a hot plate before being served. Staff weren’t the friendliest and when my partner tried to order drinks from the main bar, he was asked to leave to order from the function room bar which I feel was incredibly rude as he is a paying customer. We will unlikely be staying again and feel that customer service ought to be reviewed here.

Went for a meal with Friends. Awful experience. Very slow service and every meal was dissapointing. Friends burger had rice stuck all over the bottom of the bun and chips were full of tempura batter. Waited over an hour for food and actually had to ask what was going on before they were served. Also waited over 40minutes before any staff came near us to ask if we needed anymore drinks. Meals were nothing like described on the menu and when we queried this staff were disinterested. Swiftly left and had dessert elsewhere. Won’t be returning or recommending.

We visit here at least one a month and drive through from glasgow. Had the sunday lunch a few times as we did today. The lentil soup was great with two slice of bread. My partner had roast beef with the veg and 2 different kinds of potatoes. I had the chicken with bacon a leek sauce with veg and crispy and boiled potatoes. We then had the fudge cake, and i had the sticky toffee pudding. This was a great price for either 2 or a 3 course meal. The staff are very attentive and on hand if you need anything. Great place

Fabulous stay at the lauriston hotel, exceptionally clean and tidy rooms, great accommodation next to a beautiful beach. Amazing meals, soup was really good and would highly recommend the loaded fries. There's a great selection of meals on offer at a reasonable price. Staff are wonderful well mannered and happy to help. Had a great meal and will be back again thanks guys keep up the great work. 10/10

Ten out of ten spotlessly clean. rooms were lovely everything you need even had a we cake for your tea . Bathrooms had everything you need even had cotton wool pads to take your make up off ..wendy the manager is lovely as well would highly recommend this hotel

Good hotel only 2mins from the rail station and 10mins walk to the ferry port to Isle of Arran. Staff all very friendly and helpful and food excellent. I had the scotch egg which was just fantastic. My partner had the Thai Curry twice as she too enjoyed it that much the first night. She also had the scallops which again she says were some of the bet she’s ever had.
