Parador de Arcos de la Frontera

Returning to the Parador after a first visit in 1992 (visiting EXPO 92 in Seville). The same stunning views, the spectacular historic old town, the small shops, tascas, the site... A must add to a self driving tour of Andalucia.

A delightful, small, friendly and very well run hotel with stunning views from the rooms overlooking the cliff edge. Rooms with character, but comfortable and quiet. Very good restaurant. NB: take note of the advice they send out about driving into the old town. It can be done - and we did it. But only once! The bus trip is well worth doing for the skill of the driver, and the walk up the hill is very easy and interesting. Parking in the square in front of the hotel is almost non-existent owing to over-running (by several years, and stalled) builing works.

What a totally fabulous hotel. The setting is beyond extraordinary with the hotel set high up on an escarpment looking over miles and miles of sun drenched farmland. Antiono who runs the bar and Sara in the restaurant both welcomed us with smiles and laughter, indeed all the staff could not have been more delightful. We sadly only had one night here but will return in October. Thank you all for making this stay so special.

We stayed at this hotel as part of a bicycle tour and had dinner and breakfast there. Our room was spacious but our window opened to a nearby house wall, so not much natural light or view. Some of our friends had teraces et panoramic views. So if you can ask for a room with view, especially for a multi day stay. Dinner was a 3 course meal with a pomegranate, orange, greens, cheese and turkey salad, which was delicious. The main course was tuna steak with puree of sweet potatoes and a boiled potato. The tuna was overcooked, but the onoin compote brought it moisture. Dessert was an orange custard. For breakfast,you could order eggs, and help yourself to a very wide buffet. It was very good.

Enjoyed our stay. Hotel very nice. Clean, well kept generally. Only let down was reception staff, they were not forthcoming with information, not only on check in , but overall.
