Lloyd Hotel

My stay was lovely, quiet hotel. Very stylish rooms. Quite dusty in parts of the room and dirty glasses but overall very clean and would recommend. Not far from city centre at all.

Comfy bed, the hotel is so cool looking, very retro. Should be a 5 star hotel for sure. The hotel has everything you need and the aesthetic is so pleasant. Coupled with its easy access to a tram spot and proximity to city center this is the perfect hotel to stay in.

Stayed in a Biggy Bunk Up with two kids (age 8 and 10). Great room layout for families. Good access to city centre with two tram lines - one to Central Station (26) and the other to the Centre itself (7). Staff were friendly. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but there is a Jumbo supermarket across the way where we could buy 4 croissants for a Euro plus room snacks. Plenty of tea, coffee and fresh milk in the room to replenish. Downsides were that the room was very hot, whilst dual aspect (room 314) it was across the road from the pub and VERY noisy on the Saturday evening. All night. Until about 6am when it was time to wake up. Good value for Amsterdam though. I'd read on here about parking and it caused a lot of stress at check in. I'd emailed the hotel before to ask for tips but just kept getting told about parking at the hotel. Parking at the hotel is 45 Euro a day. It's free on Sunday but that involves faffing around moving the car. Someone on here had said they parked at P & R Zeeberg which cost E6 a day which, when it's 3 to 4 days, is a substantial saving. So we did that. You can take the tram (26) directly to the hotel when you arrive. We got a 24 hour pass on the GVB app which is 25 Euro for all four people. That's cheaper than tickets at the station. The admin is when you LEAVE. You need to go back into Central Station (or leave from there after a day out or whatever) and make sure you have a PAPER TICKET. You buy the paper ticket from the GVB office (not I love Amsterdam or the Tourist Information). That's situated outside Central Station, at the front, next to the Lovers Canal office. It's 3 Euro. That will get you back to Park and Ride via the 26 tram. You need to make sure you TAP IN and TAP OUT on the tram as you leave. Our car parking went down from E175 to E18. Well worth the E3 train ticket and 10 minutes detour to central station. Sorry for the detail but hopefully will filter back to staff at the hotel as they were helpful trying to sort it out and they can reassure anyone travelling by car in the future (I suspect most guests are Eurostar or Flying to be honest). Otherwise, top tips would be (1) Food Hallen (direct on the 7 tram) (2) Science Museum (direct 26 tram and a 10 minute walk) (3) We came via Delft and Girl with the Pearl Earrings at the Hague and had seen Van Gogh in London and Paris so avoided the tourist trap of the Van Gogh museum. However, if you are doing that and NEMO (Science) (it also covers the GWTPE at Hague) I'd suggest the Museum card. That also covers transport although you probably still need the 3 Euro paper ticket for the park and ride. (4) Anne Frank Museum was excellent. We booked the English presentation before the museum (via the museum) which gave some excellent context to the museum which was great for the kids. Anne Frank needs to be booked 6 weeks before you visit, even in low season. (5) We did a canal tour via Lovers Canal tour. Saved E20 by booking it online as compared to the
