Alnwick Lodge

"Really enjoyed my first stay. Staff were very pleasent. Breakfast was pleantiful and well presented. You must have your own transport as there were no buses. There's too much of a long walk into Alnwick by the A1 mortorway. That's not very pleasent or safe. The only issue I had was with the awlful television (It certainly needs updating) in the Cart Shed accommodation. The hand controller was useless."

Schooner Hotel

"As a regular traveller and user of many types of hotel and / or hotel / BnB I must say that The standard of decor and cleanliness was the worst I have encountered. Wallpaper was hanging off /  earth wires in the bathroom were exposed. Towels were dirty with rust on them. All the walls were marked / dirty or chipped. The bedroom carpet in room 30 was SO dirty we could smell the dust. Bedroom lights did not work. Halls and stairs were dirty with wallpaper hanging loose and dirty. Stair carpets were so dirty they smelt. Stud walls were hanging loose. All ceilings had dirty marks… I could go on and on and only hope that this review initiates  improvements or prevents others from booking. We did not eat here due to the poor first impressions however the staff seemed happy and  welcoming."

"Dirty towel. Rude owner, she charged £20 extra on arrival and demanded cash. The shower was weak and there was only a half full bottle of hand wash. Upon asking for body wash she only gave us more hand wash. A bad experience in an otherwise lovely town."

Ingram House Bed & Breakfast

"The host is a charming lady and the room was well appointed. We ate there every evening the food was very good and the service was excellent as was breakfast. A lovely part of the country to stay. We were very unlucky with the weather which made me regret the room choice I made. We chose the garden ground floor room as my husband had had a recent accident and injured his leg and I have bad knees. Thinking this would avoid stairs was the mistake. Guests do not go into the family house at all except briefly into a small hallway through a back door to the ground floor room and a french door in an extension at the very rear of the house for the other rooms. For the garden room access in and out was fine and as expected however to go to breakfast and dinner we needed to leave our room by the french doors descend down 5 rather high steps then across the garden up a few more steps to access a back hallway and into the dinning room. There were heavy rain and thunder storms during our visit which made this most unpleasant and rather unsafe as the steps were very slippery when wet, There was no accessible handrail, there is a handrail on the room steps but it is covered with plants which made it unusable especially in the heavy downpours. I imagine this is not as much a problem during good weather but you need to be able to cope with steps."
