The breakfast is 'local' and didn't look great. Staff were friendly to me and accommodating. Safe area. Hotel is set back from the street."

"I came to Ashtamaya while recovering from an ACL injury, needing a peaceful and affordable place. The owner offered me a small room at ₹4,000 per 7 days. Later, over the phone, he said I could stay long-term for ₹12,000/month and pay in smaller parts — so I understood the next ₹4,000 payment was for 10 days. But soon, I realized the services were not provided — the room was never cleaned. Worse, the cleaning lady came in and started asking invasive questions like “Why are you here?” and “When are you leaving?” After that, she stopped cleaning at all. I began to feel uncomfortable and unsafe.During almost 1 month stay she only came to clean 3 times!!!! Not even toilet paper was provided! I had to always go and ask at the reception! I decided to leave early, paid as agreed, and moved out peacefully. But after I left, I received strange messages from others, claiming the police were looking for me and demanding my passport and visa photo over WhatsApp — which is completely inappropriate. I felt harassed and disturbed and had to contact my embassy and begin an official complaint to protect myself. I do not recommend this place, especially to solo women or anyone in a vulnerable situation. What seems calm at first can become deeply unsettling."

"This is a really fine homestay hotel. It’s very new and well-designed. There’s a small pool on the roof that offers a great view of the beach while you cool off. There’s an elevator for those of us who can’t handle stairs as well as we once could. The owner and staff are super friendly. Complimentary breakfast was eaten with other guests and usually the owner. A very family-like atmosphere."

"DO NOT VISIST THIS PLACE. You will certainly spoil your holiday. Stay away from this place and its ZOMBI, rude, and ill-mannered owner (Mr. Mathew). Firstly, It's not a resort, it's a house with a couple of rooms which do not have any facility like of a resort. There is No restaurant, no swimming pool, no room service, no Porter, no front desk. etc. Secondly there's no sea view at all. Zero hospitality. The blankets they gave were disgustingly old and smelled so awful that it was impossible to sleep. The stench was unbearable! Bathroom is very dirty. Horrible room with absolutely no hygiene. The photos on the website are completely misleading compared to the actual condition of the property. What you see online is nothing like the real situation – it's a total scam!. Real and present condition of the property is way different that what is shown in the pics. Absolutely NO maintenance. Garden, verandah, the rooms, the parking area, entrance, walkway etc. all are in very poor condition and dirty. Price is really not worth. Worst experience I had in my entire Kerala trip. Overall its PATHETIC experience. These people have full potential to ruined your vocations. (Please refer the attached pics, sufficient to show the real condition of so called Resort (?))"
