We have just returned from 7 nights staying at Villa Adriana. I don’t always get around to writing reviews but wanted to make an effort for this one. I had booked in March and then read a few negative reviews so wanted to share our positive experience. I was travelling as a single Mum with two children aged 8 and 11. This small hotel is run by a very hardworking local family. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. The cleaning and maintenance team are really friendly and very careful to clean your rooms at the most convenient time for you. They ensured we always had fresh towels and even brought pool towels to the pool for us to ensure we didn’t miss out. The room was beautifully designed, clean and well kitted out. Beds were really comfortable. The small balcony overlooking the pool and with views to the sea was perfect for relaxing. The kitchenette had everything we needed for our stay and the bathroom with incredible shower was perfect. The room was fitted with Air con which worked really well. We didn’t see a single mosquito (my kids normally get eaten alive!) but the hotel had provided a plug in deterrent and had fly screens if needed. The pool was perfect for us and was partially in shade all morning, which was ideal in such hot temperatures. Most of the time we had it to ourselves. It felt very peaceful. The location was far enough from the main resort to be really quiet and relaxing. The resort is a short walk away and the beach approximately 10mins walk. We found a perfect shortcut (right out of hotel, right onto main road and next right at the brow of the hill) which took us off the busy road and down a track to a quieter part of Agios Prokopios beach. The beach is perfect for all ages and there are plenty of lifeguards so feels very safe. There is a nearby supermarket which is well stocked (including a wide selection of gluten free and dairy free options) and also nearby bakery selling fresh pastries, bread and cakes daily. The bakery also has a coffee and fresh juice bar for take always. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance from the hotel and the bus stop into Naxos town is only 2 mins walk and 2 Euros a ticket. We hired a car for 5 days to explore the island. Highlights were playing in the crashing waves at Hawaii beach, early evening drinks with incredible views at Rotunda in the mountains, catching the sunset at The Temple of Apollo in Naxos Town, learning about Olive Oil making at Eggares and snorkelling at the Amitis beach nearby.
