We went twice in the last week for coffee and dessert, once as part of a foursome and once as a couple. We all really enjoyed the coffee and apple cake (excellent coffee--probably the best Americano on Aegina so far this year). More than anything, however, is the ambience of the place. Both times we sat in the front garden and enjoyed the comfortable chairs, the flowers, the cool breeze and very light music in the background. We love traditional Greece and hate all the busy-ness of the big cafes and life in the port. The owner was friendly and accommodating but also left us on our own to read and enjoy ourselves. We haven't stayed in the rooms, but all the outside spaces (and there are different levels you can sit on with different kinds of tables and chairs) are very carefully taken care of: flowers planted with professional care, spaces newly painted, furniture clean and tidy. There are interesting antique pieces but it doesn't feel junky. Even the whitewash on the stairs was fresh. Today as we left, I realized there are spectacular views of the temple and the church above (Prophet Elias) with beautiful flag flying. Did I mention plenty of room for parking? So unlike the buzz of the port--so restful!
