The Leddie

Well worth driving your Chevy to The Leddie as this guest house punches well above its weight just East of Edinburgh. 2 delightful young ladies were somehow still awake after chatting for an hour with my mate Tony and greeted me enthusiastically as I checked in near closing time. Nice wee room and very comfortable bed with a fantastic breakfast the next morning. Nothing builds up an appetite like shooting over 100 at one of the local courses and luckily the restaurant was on hand with a fantastic homemade pie while the aforementioned Tony dug into a delicious piece of haddock and regaled the other diners about his 8 on the par 3 16th. Hats off to young Emma who forced herself to keep pace with our banal banter and makes every guest more than welcome.

First time visiting this beautifully refurbished hotel. We ate in the restaurant which is a gorgeous setting. Great food and drink with really good service. Loved it and can’t recommend highly enough. We will definitely visit again soon.

Since the re-opening I have been for dinner twice, lunch once and drinks in the garden area twice! The refurbishment is a huge improvement - modern contemporary feel. Very welcoming entrance area. Food has been lovely each time - can recommend the mackerel rillette and the hake. Other family had the steaks which were cooked perfectly! Both front of house staff and waiting staff friendly - attentive in a good way. Special thanks to staff last Tuesday - it was my daughters birthday and they brought a birthday brownie and candle which was a nice touch. There was also a mix up with what wine we had - when discussed at the time of the bill they quickly sorted it out and reduced the charge which was noted and appreciated. Will definitely be back. A great addition to Aberlady village.

I arrived without a reservation and only intended to have drinks. It was very impressive with the opening up of the old reception area . There was no one at the desk and walked through to the bar restaurant area. Waited at the door and waited to be acknowledged by lots of staff all behind the bar. Finally I approached the bar and ordered drinks in the outside area of the patio. Asked to have a look at the menu. The menu wasn’t very big but interesting. We decided to have dinner and got accommodated in a table at the entrance to the restaurant. It took a long time to get an order placed especially when we had already been having drinks and were given the menu. We ordered and later realised that we didn’t get offered the special menu. Disappointing. The service was pretty slow and a little messy. Food was average for a place that is to be competing with the Bonny Badger in the next village. In my opinion the service needs to be improved. I know it’s early days. I will return.

Excellent food but the restaurant is a bar room with bar room ambience and big screen tv. Tables were just over 12 inches apart so no privacy at all. Mussels were good but no bread to soak up the white wine sauce. Haggis bon bons were excellent. Hake was good and tasty but plate was cold. Chicken, bacon and leek pie also excellent but again plate was cold so green veg was luke warm at best. No fries or new potatoes included. Good for an improvement on a pub meal but no good for a romantic evening. Staff attentive and plenty of them.

this hotel has been upgraded very well. Comfortable and stylish interiors without being over the top and too ‘boutique’ Dropped in for lunch- nice and informal with friendly helpful staff. Sandwich lunch ( Brie and onion chutney toastie was very good) and nice to have proper Bread ! Only thing we didn’t like were the chips

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and excellent food. Really pleased with our 2 rooms, both had gorgeous decor and a couple of pieces of homemade shortbread which was incredible! The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms fabulous. We ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel and the breakfast in particular was our favourite. The location was perfect as we had a family member playing at Kilspindie Golf Club which was just along the road.

Incredibly warm welcome The staff went out of their way to welcome us. My drink was served exactly how I asked, it was a soft drink but was given the same attention to detail as the cocktail. The olives are out of this world so a must order, as is the Bombay mix. Will definitely be back for food soon. A fantastic addition to the village Well done

Visited in the passing and so glad I popped in, the new interior looks great and has an inviting feel. We ordered from the lunch menu and thoroughly enjoyed each dish. (Highly recommend the club sandwich) Few teething issues with service but I’m sure this will improve as awareness & knowledge grows. Definitely recommend!! Parking is available on the street or in a carpark behind the building.
