Our elegant oak paneled dining room is the perfect place to enjoy fine dining, while the Oak Bar will top up your tipples on request, whether you fancy a dram from the whiskey (whisky if Scottish - please check) menu featuring 300 single malts or a hand-pulled real ale. As far as warming up and winding down is concerned, were proud to offer an unrivalled range of leisure facilities, including a super spa, floatation tank, indoor swimming pool, sauna, hot tub, full Nautilus® gym, Clarins® Beauty Salon, squash court and snooker room. In fact, theres so much to enjoy here that a long weekend may not be long enough! Please be aware that our hotel is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16. Hotel in need of complete refurbishment. All areas very drab & dreary & furniture very old fashioned. Hotel is in good situation & the food in general is good. Car park is to small for the hotel & spa. Lots of corridors with some in need of better lighting.

A hotel with a nostalgic feel. Very comfy bed. Unfortunately we were allocated room 31 which smelt as described by others as a musty basement. The stairs in the room definitely need some sort of warning signage the steps are polished wood surface which is exceptionally slippy. My decision to score three is no reflection of the staff at the property who work hard and are lovely but the sheer fact that the smell in the room was so bad it actually spoilt the stay.

Stayed here recently for two nights. Room 31, which is best described as a damp, musty basement. TV reception was like listening to Norman Collier with a stutter. If your booked into this room, where a zip wire if you plan to visit the toilet during the night or you will be risking your life. Hotel staff were really nice but I wasnt keen on the hotel, its tired, dated and needs a big refurb. Best Western, dig into your pockets and do the place up, otherwise, charge a price according to what your offering.

Hotel was fab it was an old hotel and it was lovely . Staff were so friendly and food was good specially the breakfast. Our room was really big and we had a great stay . I would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to come back and stay again

I have read some strange and alarming reviews of the Bell, which seem to overlook entirely the joy of staying in an 18th century coaching inn, that has retained much of its individualist style and decor. There is even a disused well in the centre (obviously once the yard of the inn) that you can peer down. There is a curiosity in every corner, wonderful photos and prints. However, the rooms are extremely comfortable. Some previous reviewers have complained of street noise... we certainly experienced none, but were not at the front of the building. One small modern refinement we appreciated was the lift. They have an indoor pool as well, which we didn't try.

Extremely dated, tired and worn room, bedding, bed, decor and building. Took one look, turned around and left. Bathroom light wasn’t working (quite glad as can’t imagine what it was hiding). Stairs internally in the room lead from bathroom on ground floor to bed on first floor.

Lovely ground floor room, very warm and cosy, with ann attached wet room. We had an unbelievable rate at the very traditional coaching inn. The breakfast was stupendous, in a beautiful room served by very obliging staff. Full English, with all the usual cereals and juices.
