Before I arrived, I hadn't booked the Backpackers' Ten Years Youth Hostel. I'd actually reserved a spot at Nanfengchu Sea Youth Hostel on Wuyi Road. However, that place, due to age restrictions, refused my check-in. In over twenty years of staying at youth hostels across the country, this was the first time I'd encountered such a frustrating refusal. So, I reluctantly turned to Changsha Backpackers' Ten Years Youth Hostel, and thankfully, they welcomed me with immense warmth. As a long-time backpacker, I was incredibly grateful. I've always known Backpackers' Ten Years is an industry benchmark, and staying here confirmed it: the 1.2-meter beds are very soft and comfortable, and the bunks offer great privacy with curtains, reading lamps, bedside tables, and clothes rails. I also noticed that the room's air conditioning was a new upright unit, and the hostel didn't interfere with it running 24 hours a day. This is so much better than other youth hostels, providing guests with the most comfortable living environment possible. There are many restrooms in the hostel, and the showers come with shampoo and body wash. All in all, my three-day stay at Changsha Backpackers' Ten Years, as someone who has stayed in so many youth hostels nationwide, left me nothing but impressed. I hope Backpackers' Ten Years opens more branches across the country to accommodate more backpackers like us.

Location couldn't be better! Rooms and toilets were really clean. Free towels and toothbrushes. I would highly recommend!

The accommodation experience was quite good. There were two people when we checked in, and one person left behind. There was quite a lot of space. Downstairs is Xinglong Pedestrian Street, and next to it is Bubugao Plaza. There are many snacks and shopping is convenient. The room has windows and a balcony to dry clothes. Each bed is equipped with a small electric fan and air conditioner. It is convenient for other travelers to check in. If you don’t know the way for the first time, you can look at the diagram below (the text behind the first picture should be Unit 7, not Unit 4) Haha, the road is a bit circuitous, but I can remember it the first time I walked. It's very convenient.

I'd always dreamed of visiting the border town depicted by Shen Congwen, but I was surprised by how crowded it was. The owner was absolutely wonderful. I had come directly from Fanjingshan, and the scenery along the way was so breathtaking that I could barely take it all in – truly stunning! The room was spotlessly clean. The riverside was just a couple of steps from the door, and it was nice and quiet at night. Unfortunately, after many days of travel, I started feeling a bit unwell due to the change in environment, otherwise I would have happily stayed for a few more days.

If you have never stayed in a youth hostel, you can really try staying in this one. Maybe the first time will be a ceiling-level stay experience. Staying in this hotel is like opening a gentle collection of poems, with delicate beauty everywhere; I arrived at the store at around 3 pm, and the front desk guy checked in very skillfully, and did not forget to share with us all kinds of delicious and fun places in Changsha. The boss must be a person who loves life very much. He turned the youth hostel into a home on the journey, so that every passerby can continue to the next stop with the gentle memory of this city and this journey. In the room, the simple log style is matched with fresh green plants, and the sun shines through the blinds, smudges soft light and shadow. The bunk bed hides a proper sense of privacy, building a small world for travelers, a high-quality experience of less than 100 yuan. The bathroom is clean and bright, with care hidden in the details, and the clean and tidy environment gives people a good first impression; the street view is hazy by the window, and time has slowed down. The public area is more like a warm little settlement. The coffee machine in the coffee corner is waiting quietly, as if it can brew a fragrant story at any time. The art paintings on the wall on the first floor and the guitar in the corner let the literary factor flow in the space. Here, you can not only find a place to rest, but also step into a romance about ”encounter”. Next time I come, I will definitely choose this place again to continue the poetry hidden in the youth hostel.

I didn’t expect hotel bookings to be so popular during the Spring Festival holiday. We arrived at Mugen Youth Hostel at around 10 pm on the third day of the Chinese New Year. Since we were traveling as a family, the male and female combination did not quite meet the requirements of the youth hostel. However, the owner was careful and enthusiastic in contacting a room for us. Unfortunately, the surrounding area was too crowded that night. In the end, he still found a way to make room for us, solving the big problem of accommodation. I give a big thumbs up to that group of enthusiastic young people 👍 Moreover, the accommodation and sanitary environment of the hostel are really quite good, the price is affordable, and the room is clean and tidy. Even a middle-aged aunt like me was surprised. The rooms are divided into male and female rooms, and they are not mixed. A room usually has six beds, two bathrooms, spacious space, and private storage space. There are public entertainment facilities outside, including a book bar, games, billiards, etc. It is really suitable for young backpackers.

I had a wonderful stay here! The staff were friendly and welcoming, making me feel at home from the moment I arrived. Very detailed notes from the host on how to get around the city and attractions. The environment was very clean and well maintained for a hostel with facilities that were tidy and comfortable throughout my stay. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby,

The owner's mother was full of hospitality and it was a really cozy inn. The location was very convenient for sightseeing, and although I was in a dormitory room, I happened to be the only one there, so it was very comfortable. When I checked in, the owner's mother brewed some herbal tea for me, and I was allowed to use the washing machine for free. She also provided me with free breakfast, which I was truly grateful for. Although I only stayed one night, I was very sad to check out. It was the first time I'd experienced such a warm inn. I'm truly glad I stayed here. Thank you so much.

[Parks info below] I'm glad that I checked out this hostel, good value for money. Room was nice and tidy, lots of electricity sources in bed and common area, curtains, hot shower. I shared the 6 beds dorm with just another girl, and you make your own bed. No toilet paper, no free water refill, no light in bed. It's worth the price. If you extend your stay directly in the hostel it's cheaper than the app. The reception area is more cramped but you can socialize there. Most of the people are Chinese but I also met some foreigners. The guy in the reception speaks English and can give you information, in addition to that I recommend you to do your own research. There are two baby cats playing around, and an adult one. You can get to the hostel from the west railway station by bus line 17 for 2 yuan - last bus at 8:40pm + 15 minutes walk. Location is close to the main avenue where there's a lot of restaurants, and a 24-hour convenience store close to the corner with this same avenue. There are two night markets in the city, one on the avenue like 10 min distance walking to downtown direction, more local, and another one on the street in front of the tianmen mountain cable car, more touristy. The hostel is 15 minutes walking to the central bus station where you can get the bus to zhangjiajie park and 15-20 to the tianmen mountain cable car station. [ATTRACTIONS] Zhangjiajie (avatar), tianmen (heaven's gate) and canyon (glass bridge) are 3 different parks in different locations. The entrance to zhangjiajie gives you access for 4 days. I went the 4 days and enjoyed it very properly. If you're short on time, 2 days will do, but plan it wisely based on your priorities. Gates are 1 hour trip distance from the central bus station - 1h30 at weekends. Also, note that before entering the park with passport and face scan, you need to do an APPOINTMENT for that hour. You usually do it there at the gate, but for a saturday all appointments for that hour were sold out in advance and I had to wait for 45 minutes to go in. Recommended to check in advance especially on weekends. There are 2 types of tickets you can get: including all cable cars and elevator for unlimited time for 450 yuan; or just the entrance (including only free shuttles) for 215 yuan - you still have the option of buying each transport at the park (75 yuan cablecar one-way, 65 elevator one-way). At first, I had understood that to see the avatar mountains, the ONLY way was through the elevator, so I bought the all-inclusive. Turns out you CAN go by free shuttle + hike + free shuttle if you start in the east gate. My favorite part was the huangshi village. For tianmen, the entrance is 260 yuan. Choose the route in advance because some sell out fast. Gold advice: go at least one hour or more BEFORE the hour that you have the tickets for. The hour of your ticket just matters before the very last point before boarding the cable car. The line was MASSIVE and it took me 2h30 waiting on a Monday - ended up getting in 2 hours late than my ticket time and couldn't finish the whole loop: took only the red trail and went down to the heaven's gate. About the Canyon, I can't say much because I decided to skip it and save the 210 yuan ticket - note that this price DOESN'T include the activities, you must pay separately. The package that includes almost* everything is 360 yuan. Last but not least, if you go to the 72 Wonders, there's also an entrance of 88 yuan. You can go/come back with the bus 17 - same line that serves to the west railway station, last bus 8:40pm.

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was a really good stay. The owner speaks English and is very nice, he likes to talk with his guests. Rooms are good and clean. Location is 10 min walking from the railway station and the metro line so it’s very convenient. Would recommend it !
