To Miami: Tickets and Air Travel
There are several non-stop flights from New York to Miami every day. Generally, flights from New York start as early as 6AM and run until almost 11PM at night.
Ticket prices vary depending on what airline you choose and what time of day you fly at. Tickets are generally cheapest early in the morning, when you can easily find round-trip tickets for less than $200. Spirit Airlines offers prices as low as $65 dollars round trip. Other airlines that serve Miami include United, JetBlue, American Airlines, and Delta, where prices typically range from $150 to $200 (no checked luggage).
In Miami: Directions from Miami International Airport to Downtown
Both private and public transit is available from Miami International Airport to Downtown Miami.
The cheapest transit from the airport is the MIA Mover. This free air train will easily connect you to the city’s public transit in a matter of minutes.
The MIA Mover train station is located on the third level of the airport, between the Dolphin and Flamingo garages. Once you board the Mover, it takes about five minutes to travel from the airport to the Miami Intermodal Center.
Once you arrive at the Miami Intermodal Center, you can take the Metrorail Orange Line ($2.25 per person per trip) to the Government Center station. This trip generally takes just under one hour and places you right in the heart of downtown Miami.
From the Government Center station, you will find many hotels within walking distance. You can transfer to the Metromover, a free train service which serves all of downtown Miami.
If you want to travel downtown quickly, you can also take a taxi or private car service directly from the airport. Both Uber and Lyft serve Miami. Prices run from $10 and up depending on current traffic and the time of day. Taxis are also available, and prices typically range between $20 and $30.
If you want to rent a car for your stay in Miami, you can also do so right from the airport. Ride the MIA Mover from the airport to the Miami Intermodal Center. There, you will find a Rental Car Center, where several popular rental companies will be ready to serve you. You can drop off your car at the same location when you’re ready to return to New York.

Little Havana
