"This was an excellent hotel in Brunei I have stayed ever. Nice location, cheaper price comparing other hotels and services. I must recommend you all. I was staying at the end of the Ramadan. So, I was to having breakfast in the morning because, I have to fast in Ramadan. So, they willingly gave me the Sehri at the night so that I can fast easily. That was really impressive. Everybody are awesome there. Thanks to the team."

"The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful, they always smile at us and try to fit our requests. The room is clean and comfortable in overall. Their breakfast has good quality too. The only con is the water supply is not hot and weak, there are also some worms in the toilet tiles. We responded to the staff and they resolved the water supply issue."

"Spent 3 nights here at higher hotel. What can we say, firstly the hotel was clean, linens towels were clean. The room size was surprisingly big too. We had the twin bed but that’s ok for us. Location wise, just 7km away from the airport. Dart costs BND10 each way. In terms of shops and eateries, there’s myriads of shops just walking distance. They have laundry just next door to the hotel. The food in the hotel breakfast served home meals, close to local dishes. We get used to it since it’s almost like our own. Lastly, but the most significant one would be the friendliness of all their staffs, whom 90% was Filipino. They are very polite and just friendly to every guests. If we ever come to Bandar Seri Begawan again, we will look no other than Higher Hotel."

"The Centrepoint is a historical hotel. Its very old and still operating. I had a huge room, everything was ok. Bed super comfy, bedding ok. Breakfast is incredible ! So many options!!! Staff are super Friendly and always helped me booking my taxi with Dart 🤗🙏🏽 the only thing didn't like is the old style. I prefer modern hotels. All the room and hotel is very old, and the AC is so cold. Even I put it in ”fan modus only” at 30°c and it was cold.... Otherwise nice stay."

"Central location. 5mins walk to local morning market. 10 mins walk to Yayasan Shopping center. The 2 Bedrooms apartment are spacious with kitchen and the Wi-Fi is strong. Special thanks to the shuttle driver - Boy for the airport transfers. Friendly driver, also he volunteered to send us to a mall to explore when we said we go no plans. Staff are welcoming and the area is nice and quiet. Would definitely stay here again. Do keep your expecation at a minimal when staying here. I would say this hotel gives an old-skool vibe. 3*"

"I called close to midnight to tell them I am checking in after midnight and to make sure my booking is reflected in their system. "Nothing but 5 stars. Lets start with the location. Not very far from town as you can see from map. Neighbouring local kampung houses. Just below the hotel there is one fine restaurant that looks premium. Embun doesnt have many rooms, they gave me the room just behind the reception. Dont expect someone to man the counter, just press the bell and Mr Jimmy will come running. A superb friendly and attentivve gentleman. Room is very comfortable and very clean. Towel provided is clean. Water pressure and great with heater. It is very chilly in the morning if you aretakingt bath. Yes we are facing mangroove swamp and a nice huge river. Best part, TV is great with youtube. Apart from some board games at common hangout area, there is a pool at the back of the hotel facing the river. U cant really swim, just dip and enjoy the view. N Parking wise not an isue as there spaces for at least 9 cars. Now comes breakfast, not your usual hotel buffet, they served your breakfast personally with some nice omelette, local kuih and oranges. Very delicious. Will i come back again? Yes. Better than J Hotel which I frequent. Although embun doesnt have smart lighting and etc like J hotel where we uses a old school key to access our room, but the human side of Embun wins hands down. Love this hotel."

Wonderful staff and useful airport transfers, but the hotel needs a complete renovation The strongest part of our stay was definitely the staff. Everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming and genuinely willing to help with absolutely everything. Their attitude made a huge difference, and we are very grateful to the entire team! The hotel also provides complimentary airport pick-up and drop-off, which was extremely convenient. We received a room upgrade, and the staff brought drinking water and fresh linen to the room. Coffee and tea supplies were replenished every day as well. Unfortunately, the building and rooms are extremely outdated, and cleanliness was a serious problem. The hotel clearly needs deep cleaning, better maintenance and a major renovation. Despite the excellent service and useful amenities, the poor condition of the property made the stay much less comfortable. Thank you again to the wonderful staff — you were truly the best part of this hotel.

The Empire Brunei truly exceeded my expectations, highly recommended! The breakfast buffet offered an incredible variety of both Chinese and Western dishes, all made with fresh, delicious ingredients – every meal was incredibly satisfying. The room was spacious and elegantly decorated, clean, and comfortably laid out, making for a truly relaxing stay. The hotel grounds are huge, with lush greenery and stunning ocean views. It's a quiet and therapeutic environment. The outdoor pool has crystal clear water and faces the sea directly, perfect for swimming and photos. Just a few steps away is the beach, ideal for leisurely walks and watching the sunset. My entire stay was flawless, with thoughtful service and excellent facilities. You absolutely must stay here if you visit Brunei!

I used this hotel for a transit stay. Upon arrival, the hotel's shuttle staff was immediately available, making the transfer to the hotel smooth and convenient. The location is great, with many attractions within walking distance, and there's a night market nearby, which is a big plus. The bathroom was also clean, which was nice. For breakfast, there weren't many options, but there was toast, jam, and drinks, which was perfectly fine for my child's breakfast. Just note that toothbrushes are not provided in the room, so you'll need to bring your own.

The hotel is located quite far from the city center, but it does provide a free shuttle service to and from the airport. It is also not very close to the sea; however, this is not a major issue since swimming is prohibited at the nearby beaches anyway. Additionally, there are no cafes or shops within walking distance of the hotel, which makes the location even less convenient. The prices at the hotel’s cafe are overpriced. The hotel’s design feels somewhat outdated, but nothing critical. What was truly disappointing, however, was the service. The hotel presents itself as a 4-star property, yet it is surprisingly strict about a very basic necessity — drinking water. Guests are provided with only one bottle of water per person per day. There is coffee and tea available in the room, but to boil the kettle you need additional drinking water, which the staff refused to provide. They insisted that water had already been supplied during housekeeping and that no more was allowed. We had to keep asking for it as if they were personally paying for it themselves. That was extremely unpleasant. The tap water is yellow, and there were also issues with the hot water. Only one person works at the reception desk, which is clearly insufficient for a hotel with this many rooms, resulting in long waiting times. The reception staff are not knowledgeable about nearby attractions and do not assist with arranging tours, suggesting that guests find everything out on their own. Unfortunately, the overall service was extremely disappointing.

The room itself was great, clean and tidy. I arrived on an early flight and didn't expect to be able to check in early, but was told I could come back at 11 AM to check in. Happy, I stored my luggage and went out to explore. When I returned to the hotel at 10:30 AM, I was told there would be an extra charge for early check-in. I then reminded the front desk that they had agreed to let me check in at 11 AM earlier that morning, and only then was I asked to wait a bit longer for check-in. This little hiccup was the only thing that dampened my mood, but everything else was really good. There are two large supermarkets around the hotel, and on the ground floor, there's a bakery and a Japanese dessert shop, so breakfast was easily sorted. The breakfast and lunch at the bakery were excellent; I ate there twice. The Japanese desserts were also delicious, and two people don't need to order too much. From the hotel room, you can see the mosque, which is truly beautiful.

We stayed at Embun in Brunei and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The property is beautifully maintained, blending modern comfort with tasteful local touches — spotless rooms, comfortable beds, and thoughtful amenities that made our stay effortless. The location is peaceful yet conveniently close to key attractions, and the sea views and surrounding trees were perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. What truly set Embun apart were the hosts, Diana and Jimi. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, they went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Diana anticipated our preferences, arranged excellent local recommendations, and made check‑in seamless with a friendly, professional manner. Jimi’s local knowledge was invaluable — from arranging transport to sharing insights about hidden gems around Brunei. Both were always available without ever being intrusive, striking the perfect balance between professionalism and sincere hospitality. The food recommendations and small personal touches (welcome refreshments, spotlessly clean bathrooms, and prompt responses to requests) made us feel well cared for throughout our stay. If you’re visiting Brunei and want a comfortable, restful base with hosts who make you feel like a valued guest, Embun with Diana and Jimi is highly recommended. We’ll happily return.

When we arrived, the hotel offered a free shuttle service to the night market if we booked through them, which was super helpful! On the way back, they even took us to two mosques so we could get some great photos of the illuminations ✨ It was truly amazing service, I was so impressed! 🤩 Regarding breakfast... I wanted to try some local food, so I didn't book breakfast. When I asked the hotel staff for recommendations, they happily gave me a ton of suggestions for breakfast spots (and even wrote them down for me!)

The location was great. There's a decent-sized supermarket in the hotel's basement, which was super convenient since it's open late. They upgraded our room, so we ended up with a really spacious one. The hotel itself is a bit old and could use some cleaning in places, but for the price, it's not bad. Breakfast wasn't amazing taste-wise, but it was colorful and looked nice.

Good value for money and a comfortable stay. The room was clean, spacious, and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The location was also convenient for getting around Brunei. The only downside was that the shared bathrooms could be cleaner, as they were sometimes a bit dirty. Aside from that, everything else was satisfactory, and I enjoyed my stay overall.
